Fans spent decades claiming that Hideo Kojima is a creative genius who's being held back by the studio system, and then the first time a production gave him free rein to do whatever he wanted he promptly made a game where you have to play out using the bathroom in real time so the protagonist can collect his own urine to craft magic piss grenades. It's unclear whether this confirms the fandom's hypothesis.

So apparently The Game Awards 2023 only gave the awards' recipients 30 seconds each to make their acceptance speeches, and half of the categories didn't even offer that opportunity before the presenters moved on. If that kind of restriction is being put on the alleged main event of your show then it should also apply to the guest presenters and reveal announcements.

Every year it gets harder to hide that this show is all about the ads and not actually honoring the hard work of developers in an industry that already undervalues them.

Nine and a half minutes of pre-rendered cinematics would be an entire game's worth of cutscenes for some titles; for Death Stranding 2 it's the fucking announcement trailer.
